Buriram United Football Club is a Thai professional football club based in Buriram Province. Originally founded in 1970 as the Provincial Electricity Authority Football Club (PEA), the club underwent a significant transformation in 2010 when it was taken over by politician Newin Chidchob. Following its relocation to Buriram and rebranding as Buriram PEA, the club officially adopted the name Buriram United in 2012. Nicknamed the “Thunder Castle” (ปราสาทสายฟ้า), Buriram United plays its home matches at the Chang Arena, a 32,600-capacity stadium that stands as one of the finest sports facilities in Southeast Asia.
Under the leadership of Newin Chidchob, Buriram United has emerged as a dominant force in Thai football. The club has clinched 11 Thai League 1 titles, including the 2024–25 season, and has recorded an impressive five domestic trebles—winning the Thai League, Thai FA Cup, and Thai League Cup in a single season in 2011, 2013, 2015, 2021–22, and 2022–23. These achievements firmly establish Buriram United as the most successful club in the history of Thai football.
On the international stage, Buriram United has also delivered impressive performances. In 2025, the club reached the quarterfinals of the AFC Champions League after defeating Johor Darul Ta’zim 1-0 on aggregate. Backed by a solid management structure, world-class facilities, and a fiercely loyal fan base, Buriram United continues to cement its position as one of Southeast Asia’s elite clubs, with sights set on achieving even greater success at the continental level.
